Travel Hints:

- The bus from Nagano to Hakuba cannot be reserved. If there are more people than seats then the call up another bus.

- If you are staying the Goryu area, get off at Hakuba-Goryu. If you are staying in Echoland, Happo or Wadano, then get off at Hakuba -  Happo. Hakuba Happo is a better stop than Hakuba station as there is warm, indoor waiting, staff on duty that will call your hotel for a pick up. If you do get off at Hakuba Station, then go into the Bamboo Coffee Bar, and order a coffee and ask them to call your hotel.

- Hakuba - Happo is also called Happo Bus Terminal and Happo Information Center. There are all the same place.
Travel Information - Getting to Hakuba

Nagano city is the main gateway to the ski resorts of Hakuba, Shiga Kogen and Nozawa Onsen, and it is quite easy to get to the resorts by the regular bus services provided by Alpico (Hakuba) and Nagano Dentetsu (Shiga Kogen and Nozawa Onsen).Hakuba Happo Bus Terminal

Buses leave from the East Exit of Nagano Station, which it to your left as you come through the ticket gates from the bullet trains. Here's what you do.

  1. On arrival at Nagano Station head up to the 2nd floor. If you have a lot of luggage then there is an elevator in the middle of the platform, or an escalator to the front end of the train.

  2. Head to the ticket gates and either hand your tickets to the person on duty or put them in the machine (do not use the transfer gates to the other JR Lines).

  3. Turn left on exiting the ticket gates and walk towards the open air space ahead of you. Just before you get to the short escalator leading down to the overpasses, you'll see an elevator on your left. Take the elevator down to ground level.

  4. On the ground level you'll see a taxi stand, a couple of stores and a public toilet. Buses to Hakuba leave from bus stop #6. There are generally 10-12 buses per day

The Alpico Bus site has been moved to the Access Shinshu and there is now very little information in English. For the latest time table please go to : http://www.alpico.co.jp/access/express/nagano_hakuba/ and scroll down to the time tables, upper table is Nagano to Hakuba, lower one is Hakuba to Nagano.
